Wellnesshotel Bürgerstuben stands on Briloner Strasse in the very centre of Willingen. The family-run hotel with around 40 rooms, apartments and suites rates itself as a 3-star superior property and is the most affordable entry point among the hotels compared here.

Spa and wellness

The Thermaris sauna area comprises three saunas: a Finnish sauna, a steam bath and a bio larch sauna (a mild bio sauna with larch wood and a lower temperature). A special feature is the salt grotto, a room with salt on the walls and in the air, designed for inhaling and relaxing; the price list charges € 8 extra for it, so it is not included in the room rate. Swimming takes place in the indoor pool called “Sauerländer Almschwimmbad”, heated to 29 °C and fitted with an integrated massage pool. Bookable treatments include hot stone massages and 2-hour body and facial programmes.

Who it suits

• Budget-conscious guests: from € 130 for a double room (€ 65 per person), well below the village’s 4-star hotels.
• Fans of a central location: shops, restaurants and après-ski are right outside the door.
• Dog owners: dogs by arrangement for € 15 per night.
• Less suitable if you expect a large sauna landscape or 4-star comfort.

Good to know

The hotel includes the restaurant Bauernstube with regional cooking and the bistro La Vita. The central location means short distances to everything, but at weekends and in the ski season also more bustle around the hotel than in valley locations such as the Stryck valley. Besides classic double rooms, holiday apartments are available as well.
