The Familotel Sonnenpark lies on the edge of Willingen close to the ski area and is first and foremost a family hotel: 4 stars (officially classified), an all-inclusive concept and childcare from birth. For wellness-minded guests the combination is interesting: a large pool world for the children and a separate adults-only area where parents actually find some peace.
Wellness and pool world
The Badewelt pool world has separate pools for adults, children and babies, a 30 m water slide and a heated outdoor pool kept at approx. 28 °C all year round. Separate from all this is the adults-only spa: 2 floors, approx. 600 m² and, according to the hotel, up to 9 saunas, plus relaxation zones and a loggia (a covered open-air seating area) with views. Treatments such as massages cost extra.
Who it suits
- Families with children of any age: babies can be looked after for up to 10 hours a day, children from age 3 for up to 10.5 hours
- Parents who want sauna time without children: the spa is reserved for adults
- Larger families: apartments up to approx. 120 m² for up to 7 people
- Less suitable for couples without children; the entire concept is built around families
Good to know
All-inclusive here covers meals and drinks throughout the day, childcare, the pool and sauna world and most activities; exceptions include spa treatments as well as riding and swimming lessons. Important for booking: the hotel is not listed on Booking.com; you book directly via the hotel website. Pets are not allowed, so dog owners need to pick another hotel in the village. Because of the all-inclusive package, prices sit above those of conventional hotels, so a bare per-night comparison tells you little.
