The Sauerland Stern Hotel sits on the Ettelsberg, a short walk from Willingen station, and with 506 rooms and 18 suites it is one of the largest hotels in the region. The house holds an official 4-star classification and mainly targets families, groups and conference guests. Wellness is one part of a broad leisure offering rather than the main event.
Spa and wellness
The spa covers approx. 150 m²: an indoor pool, a whirlpool, a relaxation room and three saunas, namely a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna (a milder, lower-temperature sauna) and an infrared cabin (a heat cabin with infrared panels). Massages and beauty treatments can be booked, and there is a fitness room open around the clock. The hotel also houses the Beauty Lounge, an independent beauty studio whose treatment packages are explicitly open to guests not staying overnight, for example 75 minutes for two from € 139 for both together. There is no day ticket for the pool and sauna area. Right next door is a leisure pool complex of approx. 1,200 m² with a lagoon-style pool: more splashing than silence.
Who it suits
- Families looking for pool, leisure facilities and evening entertainment under one roof
- Groups and business guests (36 meeting rooms and a congress centre)
- Couples who want to book a Beauty Lounge treatment package
- Guests travelling with a dog: dogs are allowed
- Less suitable if you expect a small, quiet wellness hotel
Good to know
There are three restaurants (Trattoria La Stella, EssZeit, Wirtshaus Zum Stern) plus a bar and a club in the building. Rooms start from € 149, with prices varying widely by season and category. The location is convenient: the station and the village centre are within easy reach, and the Ettelsberg cable car is close by. The trade-off for all this infrastructure under one roof is that the hotel gets busy in holiday periods.
